Graphic Designer

AVS is looking for a self-motivated individual who is proficient in Graphic Design from concept to execution for various web and print design projects utilizing company software programs. Among other tasks, the candidate will be working with the marketing department and management in developing innovative design concepts for proposals, marketing materials, company website, newsletters, print ads and more. The candidate will continue to develop and implement corporate branding throughout all marketing sectors.

This is a fulltime position and it is located in Sacramento, CA. Some travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for concept, design and execution on various electronic, web and print design projects including such materials as bid proposals, marketing materials (brochures, cards, etc.), catalogs, direct mail pieces, internal and external newsletters, print ads and more.
  • Interface with internal company teams on continued design and development, maintenance, and support of website.
  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Internet websites (develop corporate branding).
  • Listen to, collaborate with, and manage relationships with internal team members to understand outline and concept, and then recommend brand and product creative strategy and design execution options.
  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
  • Review final layouts with team and management for approval and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products.
  • Stay current of developments in graphic and web design, and makes recommendations for changes that may benefit company.
  • Assist with all steps in the design process from concept through production, utilizing the corporate standard software.
  • Manage external vendor relationships as necessary to execute projects.
  • Prepare notes and instructions for co-workers and/or outside agencies to assemble and prepare final layouts for printing.
  • Serve on cross-functional teams as necessary as subject matter expert.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science / Graphic Design
  • Graphic Design experience
  • Experience in designing compelling online and offline advertising materials required. (A detailed portfolio demonstrating previous experience developing designs and managing brands will be required if selected for interview.)
  • Experience in multimedia design with product, brand marketing, web design emphasis
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently produce a high volume of quality work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Expert Proficiency in the following computer programming languages: Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.), WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS outlook environment.
  • An understanding of the engineering sector or related industry is highly desirable.

Infrastructure Systems Engineer

Alta Vista Solutions, Inc. is a growing multi-faceted engineering firm that specializes in materials engineering, inspection and testing, project and construction management, surveying, and stormwater pollution prevention. We have an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate engineer to work on various transportation projects across California.

AVS is looking for a self-motivated individual who is proficient in computer programming. Project Scheduler

Alta Vista Solutions, Inc., is looking for an experienced project scheduler. Must be fluent in CPM Scheduling (P6, P3) or equivalent. Must have a minimum of three years’ experience on large scale highway and bridge projects. P.E Civil License in California is desirable.

Project Engineer, P.E – Highway

Alta Vista Solutions, Inc., is seeking licensed engineers. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, organized, technically strong, a communicator, with good people skills. The project engineers will provide engineering services in planning, designing, and overseeing construction of transportation projects for our clients. The right candidate will assist the client in supervision and inspection of highway construction.

Structural Materials Representative

ALTA VISTA SOLUTIONS is seeking engineers to serve as Structural Materials Representatives for the California Department of Transportation. The individual will serve as the client’s single point of contact for all structural material related issues related to the portion of the project(s) assigned. The individual will apply standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations which may include the following:

  • Meets regularly with clients to establish and maintain open lines of communication throughout the life of the project.
  • Provides clear, effective and timely structural materials recommendations to clients.
  • Identifies resources needed to accomplish client’s quality assurance and source inspection responsibilities.
  • Anticipates and resolves any issues associated with quality assurance and source inspection while maintaining standards, consistency, contract schedule and contract cost.
  • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.

Assistant Structural Materials Representative

ALTA VISTA SOLUTIONS is seeking engineers to serve as Assistant Structural Materials Representatives during the fabrication and construction of the new San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge. Under the direct supervision of the Structural Materials Representative, the individual shall assist with all structural material related issues related to the portion of the project(s) assigned. The individual will apply standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations which may include the following:

  • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. Invoicing/Proposal Analyst

The ideal candidate would be someone with 3+ years of high-volume manual invoicing experience. In addition, the candidate will need to have strong analytical skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Preference will be given to candidates with construction and/or AASHTO auditing guideline experience

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years experience in Finance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are necessary
Must have strong organizational and decision making skills
Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain accurate and comprehensive records

Related duties:

  • Maintain cordial relationship with co-workers, subcontractors and clients while gathering and providing information

Resident Engineer

Alta Vista Solutions is seeking a California Registered Civil Engineer to serve as a Resident Engineer (RE) and client representative for both vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have past experience administering a project with both state and federal funding. The RE must be capable of working with minimal supervision to coordinate between contractor, client, and third-party personnel.

The RE will plan and facilitate project meetings, make recommendations for change order negotiation and preparation, and assist the Construction Manager in the preparation of monthly progress reports to client. The RE will also assist the CM in review of the construction schedule, and will maintain record drawings. Seeking an RE who can work collaboratively with the Construction Manager, contractor and consultant staff in submittal, design review and other major elements of the project.

The candidate will coordinate and monitor field and lab testing of structural, aggregate base, asphalt, concrete, structural steel, bolting, welding, miscellaneous steel and other testing. The RE will review test results and make weekly reports to client.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform inspections to ensure compliance with Contract Documents
  • Conduct, coordinate and schedule materials sampling and testing
  • Maintain field construction records and photos of work
  • Generate daily inspection reports (DIRs)
  • Conduct SWPPP inspections
  • Coordinate with utility companies and regulatory agencies
  • Perform quantity calculations
  • Perform basic surveying functions
  • Participate in safety reviews
  • Generate Safety Observation Reports and Safe Plans of Action
  • Generate correspondence to contractor (letters and field memos)
  • Review submittals and RFIs
  • Assist in the generation of contract change orders
  • Assist in the generation of progress pay estimates
  • Assist in dispute resolution processes.
  • Assist in business development activities

Requirements:

10+ years of Field Quality Assurance (inspection / office engineering) experience is required. Experience with Caltrans, BART, federal and local agencies is desired.
