Twin Cities Road Bridge: Emergency Repair
On February 8th 2010, a truck crashed into the Twin Cities Road Bridge over Snodgrass Slough (Bridge No. 24C-0053) in Sacramento County, causing severe damage to important structural elements of the bridge. The road had been closed until repairs to the steel truss were made and the structure brought back into compliance. Sacramento County awarded an emergency contract to design firm Quincy Engineering, which contacted Alta Vista Solutions to perform quality assurance and source inspection.
In addition to structural materials source inspections and quality assurance services, Alta Vista Solutions is also performing weld inspection, non-destructive testing, witnessing of mechanical tests, paint inspections, bolt testing and installation inspection. AVS’ proactive approach and ability to maintain open lines of communications with the County, the contractor and the designer has garnered praises from the client. AVS has been able to address the instantaneously changing needs of this emergency project.
